Houston, Texas Nov 25, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Pastor Roderick Johnson, Founder of Destined for Empowerment, has announced the launch of United by Compassion: Driven by Community, a historic new initiative uniting faith leaders, community advocates, and nonprofit organizations in an unprecedented act of service and solidarity.
This compassionate coalition, featuring LaQuentin Jenkins, Founder of Grace Community Outreach and a leading advocate for senior healthcare, and Rob Slater, Founder of The Culture Commission Coalition, a powerhouse in civic engagement and grassroots impact, is mobilizing across Harris County to bring real, immediate relief to families in need.
From November 2427, Pastor Johnson and the United by Compassion Network will provide hot meals to up to 15,000 Houston families through a growing network of partnering distribution locations hosted by local churches and community organizations. These sites will serve as hubs of hope, ensuring that no family goes hungry and that every household experiences the warmth of compassion this Thanksgiving season.
Our mission is simple but powerful to bring compassion back to the center of community, said Pastor Roderick Johnson, Founder of Destined for Empowerment. When faith and service unite, barriers fall. This isnt about red tape or politics its about people. Together, were making sure that families across Houston know they are seen, valued, and cared for.
The United by Compassion: Driven by Community initiative is building what will become Harris Countys largest independent resource distribution network, designed to deliver essential supplies quickly and directly without government obstacles or bureaucratic delays. This framework will remain active beyond the holiday season, ready to respond to disasters, emergencies, and ongoing community needs with efficiency and compassion.
By turning churches and partner organizations into resource hubs, Pastor Johnson and his team are laying the foundation for a community-driven support system that can adapt, grow, and serve for years to come.
This is what unity looks like compassion in action, said Rob Slater, Founder of The Culture Commission Coalition. Were building something bigger than a program; were building a movement of care that lasts.
No one should face hardship alone, especially our seniors and vulnerable families, added LaQuentin Jenkins, Founder of Grace Community Outreach. This network is about restoring hope one meal, one neighborhood at a time.
